Chemical spill prompts middle school evacuation

Arthur Cusano reports in the Register Star approximately a half-dozen Ichabod Crane school district employees were evacuated from the middle school, Mon., July 29, when toxic fumes began to fill the hallways. Firefighters from Niverville and Valatie were called to the school in the early morning hours after a toilet bowl cleaner mixed with another material to create a toxic cloud. No students were in the building at the time of the incident, and the OK Kids Day Care program was redirected to the nearby primary school.
