Area awarded economic development funds

Nathan Mayberg reports in the Register Star Columbia and Greene counties are expected to receive approximately $3 million in new economic development funds from the state of New York. The new funding was announced Wed., Dec. 19, by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, as part of his economic development initiative, during an event held at The Egg in Albany. Among the local recipients: The town of Prattsville, for help with its storm rebuilding efforts; the Hudson Valley Agribusiness Development Corp. to expand food processing and distribution capacity; the village of Catskill for the creation of a walking loop; and the Greene County Council on the Arts for the creation of a cultural tourism corridor along the Rip Van Winkle Trail.
