Albany County adds another COVID-19 death

Sep 06, 2021 2:33 pm

Wendy Liberatore reports in the Times Union about another death from COVID-19, announced in Albany County Sept. 6. “We have lost another resident to COVID-19 and my sympathy goes out to that family and the families of everyone who is grieving for a loved one who was taken by the virus,” Albany County Executive Dan McCoy said in a press release. “Each day, we move closer to reaching herd immunity. Each day, we move closer to approval of vaccinations for those under 12 and for boosters for those who are already vaccinated. Each day, I pray it will be the last that I announce the death of another Albany County resident and this pandemic comes to an end. Be a part of the solution and encourage those you know who haven’t been vaccinated to get a shot today.” Albany County also reported 55 new cases on Sept. 6. The county’s five-day average of new daily positive cases is at 80.2 with a seven-day average of percent positive rate at 4.7 percent. Anyone 12-years-old or older can get a shot of the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Albany County Department of Health, 175 Green St. in Albany.
