Town of Chatham gives state police land for new station
Sep 28, 2018 7:45 am
Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Chatham Town Board agreed September 20, to subdivide and donate town land for use as a state police station. The resolution approved an agreement with the state to gift the police three acres, located between the town hall and the Taconic State Parkway, on Route 295. When construction of the new barracks has been completed, the state police will vacate their existing station in New Lebanon. The new location will allow troopers to cover all of northern Columbia County. The board's decision is subject to permissive referendum, and the state will have to go before the Chatham Zoning Board of Appeals to request approval for the planned subdivision of town land.
