Shutdown in Capital Region extended to May 28

May 15, 2020 1:15 pm
Steve Hughes is reporting for the Times Union Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo issued an executive order late May 14, extending New York On PAUSE for some areas, including the Capital Region, until at least May 28. The text of the order does note that the Capital Region and other regions statewide could open sooner if they hit the state's metrics on hospitalizations, deaths and other health-related markers, rather than being forced to wait until May 28. The order also extends some of the governor's emergency powers until June 13, as well. So far, the Finger Lakes, Central New York, Mohawk Valley, Southern Tier and the North Country have been approved to reopen some businesses. Construction, agriculture, forestry, fishing, hunting, manufacturing and wholesale trade businesses can reopen with some restrictions. Some retail businesses will also be allowed to reopen in those regions but are limited to curbside, in-store pickup or drop off, according to the executive order.
