Public hearing set for Taconic State Park Master Plan

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced this week it will hold a public hearing on the draft Master Plan for Taconic State Park on Wed., Aug. 16. The Master Plan is part of a planning initiative to determine the best course of action for the preservation and use of the park over the next 10 to 15 years. The purpose of the meeting is to invite public participation in the planning process. Plans are available at the park office, and the Roeliff Jansen and Millerton libraries. Taconic State Park was established in 1924 and consists of more than 6,700 acres situated in Columbia and Dutchess counties. The park receives 200,000 to 300,000 visitors every year. The public hearing will be held 7 p.m., Wed., Aug. 16, at Copake Town Hall, 230 Mountain View Road, Copake. Read the full draft Master Plan and other documents online at Parks [dot] NY [dot] gov.
