Emilia Teasdale is reporting in The Columbia Paper the town of Kinderhook this month announced it has received 77 acres of land previously owned by the state. Town Supervisor Pat Grattan announced at the November town board meeting the state had granted the land, located behind Volunteer Park on State Farm Road, to the town at no cost. The town will have to pay some closing costs on the transfer, however. The land will be used for trails and recreation, Grattan said. In October, the state Office of General Services announced the land would be auctioned off. Approximately 25 percent of the acreage is wooded and the Valatie Kill creek runs along the back of the property. Grattan thanked the members of the town’s Recreation and Trail committees for their work on obtaining the land. “It will be an asset,” he said. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
