Rensselaerville approves next year's budget
Nov 20, 2019 12:26 am
The Altamont Enterprise reports that the Rensselaerville Town Board voted 4-to-1 Nov. 14 to adopt Supervisor John Dolce’s first budget. Marion Cooke voted against the 2020 budget, which is two percent larger with a 3.5-percent tax increase from $1,338,554 to $1,385,093. Dolce was appointed supervisor last year after Steve Pfleging left office after being charged with larceny after embezzling over $13,000 from the town. Cooke did not comment to the paper about why she voted against the budget. With the tax increase, the budget also comes with salary increases for town workers. The town board voted themselves $500 salary increases from $3,500 to $4,000 a year. The town supervisor goes from $14,500 annually to $16,500; the town clerk, used to make $34,000 a year, and will now make $36,000; and the highway superintendent, see an increase of $2,000 to $48,316.
