The Daily Freeman reports that Saugerties has been named a “Clean Energy Community” by the state Energy Research and Development Authority after completing four of ten high-impact clean energy actions of the state’s Clean Energy Communities initiative. Saugerties recently installed an electric vehicle charging station near the Kiwanis Ice Arena and also joined the state’s Uniform Solar Permit program. The town has trained a building inspector in energy issues, and started a Sustainable Saugerties program, with 66 homes adding solar power. Saugerties can now apply for up to $5,000 for other clean energy projects because of the designation. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
