Sutherland leaving Greenville schools after 35 years

Sep 26, 2021 4:33 am

Andrea Macko reports for Porcupine Soup that after starting with the Greenville Central School District in 1986, Superintendent Tammy Sutherland is now retiring. Her resignation is effective Feb. 1. “During her many years of service, our school has benefited tremendously from her roles as treasurer, assistant superintendent for business and superintendent,” the Board of Education wrote in a letter to parents. “While her accomplishments are too numerous to list, one has only to look at the campus to see how a vision can be transformed into reality.” At its September 20 meeting, the Greenville Board of Education voted for a contract with Syracuse-based education consultants Castallo & Silky, LLC to search for Sutherland’s replacement. They will get $16,000, plus up to $3,000 in expenses to find a new superintendent. The board also decided on an online survey to gather input on qualities the community wants in a new superintendent.
