Brian Howard announces candidacy for NY Senate

Joe Gentile is reporting in the Register Star Democrat Brian Howard, a former Chatham Central School District administrator, has formally announced his candidacy for the New York State Senate in the 43rd District. He is challenging incumbent first-term Republican Kathleen Marchione of Half Moon. Howard announced his candidacy Tues., July 8, outside the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club in Troy. The filing deadline for nominating petitions is Thurs., July 10. Howard has called for the suspension of the Common Core Standards and for the statewide restoration of education funding to pre-recession levels. He has also pledged his support for campaign finance reform and a fair minimum wage. The 43rd Senate District encompasses all of Columbia County, and portions of Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties. Read the full story in the Register Star.
