Greenville board approves technology makeover

Aug 25, 2016 6:45 am

Greg Hudson is reporting in The Daily Mail administrators in the Greenville Central School District have approved a plan to use more than $1 million in state funding to acquire new tech teaching tools. The money comes to the district through the New York State Smart Schools Bond Act, approved as part of the 2014-15 state budget. Working in collaboration with the teaching staff, district technology director Scott Gardiner has chosen a variety of technological tools for purchase, from computer-controlled laser cutters for the district’s manufacturing program to MIDI music composition keyboards for the music department. The district is also looked at new calculators and different sensors for the science labs. Gardiner will also acquire laptops for students and faculty. Gardiner’s largest proposal is an overhaul of three district facilities: The elementary and middle-high media centers, and the district’s alternative education and choral suite. The board of education unanimously approved Gardiner's full plan at a recent public meeting. The total price tag for Greenville's technology makeover is $1.3 million.
