Edward McKinley reports in the Times Union that Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Dec. 9 that the first shipment of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine is expected to arrive in New York this weekend. Getting it out to all New Yorkers is going to be a lot of work, he said. “I cannot think of a government operation that has commenced that is more difficult and intricate than what government is being asked to do here," Cuomo said. "This is going to test capacity all across the board." Of the first batch of 170,000 vaccines that the state will receive the Capital Region will get 7,850, or a little less than five percent. Those are for for nursing home residents and staff, and front-line health care workers who are treating patients. New York is readying 90 storage facilities across the state for the vaccine across the state, Cuomo said. A federal program partnering with Walgreens and CVS is being set up to vaccinate nursing home residents. Read more about this story in the Times Union.
