Chatham supervisor delivers 'state of the town' message

Feb 01, 2018 7:30 am

Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper Chatham Town Supervisor Maria Lull delivered her state of the town address during the first regular town board meeting of the year on January 18. “After 24 months in office, I am pleased to announce that our town is in a sound state; it is energized and vibrant, and it adheres to good governance practices,” Lull said. She reviewed projects and programs the board worked on throughout the last year, including improvements at Crellin Park, securing grants for an electric car charging station in the municipal parking lot; and receiving state approval for traffic lights on the Albany Turnpike Bridge in East Chatham. As for upcoming projects, Lull said the board intends to approve the new zoning code soon; the town will launch a new website and town board members will receive town email accounts. She praised Town Clerk Beth Ann Rippel and the town’s deputy clerk for their response in late December to the governor's directive that allowed taxpayers to make early payments on 2018 property tax bills. The Chatham Town Board's next regular meeting will be 6 p.m., Thu., Feb. 15 at Town Hall on Route 295. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
