Mid-Hudson's broadband plan for Catskill still to be determined

Daniel Zuckerman is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the question of when broadband will become available in the town of Catskill was raised during a meeting of the town board February 6. Town officials recently met with representatives of Mid-Hudson Cable, which received more than $6 million in January as part of the third and final phase of the New NY Broadband program. Catskill Supervisor Doreen Davis said the board is encouraged by the grants, and that she plans to reach out to Mid-Hudson Cable. “We’re going to let the dust settle a little bit,” Davis said. “I’m looking forward to doing that in the next couple of weeks.” Under the terms of the New NY Broadband program, projects must be completed by 2019, Mid-Hudson Cable engineer Dave Fingar said. Specific areas designated for service and the timeline for connection have not been finalized, he said.
