City close to appointing new police chief

The Register Star is reporting Hudson Police Commissioner Gary Graziano is close to appointing a new police chief to replace Ellis Richardson, who retired Mon., Feb. 25. State Police Sgt. Laurence E. Moore of the Troop K Barracks is reportedly a top candidate. Graziano declined to identify candidates under consideration. Mayor William Hallenbeck Jr. said Graziano has been actively seeking a replacement during the past month. The mayor said he has asked the commissioner to make the appointment within the next week. Hallenbeck said he would like the next chief to be active in the community and for the department to expand its community policing efforts. Read the full story in the Register Star.
