Catskill residents get re-do on solar project public hearing

Sarah Trafton is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Catskill residents will have an additional opportunity to sound off about the Cypress Creek Renewables plan to build a solar farm, as a result of an error made in the special-use permit issued by the town planning board. The national solar company received conditional approval from the Catskill Planning Board in June to build a 20-acre community solar farm . The two-megawatt facility would power between 300 and 500 homes within the Mid-Hudson Cable region. The conditions set for the special use permit included a deed restriction requiring the company to leave 40 acres of the 61-acre property undeveloped. Because it was illegal for the planning board to create that condition, the special-use permit must be amended and a new public hearing will be held Feb. 26.
