Rick Karlin is reporting for the Times Union tuition and fees at all of the State University of New York's four-year campuses will increase this coming school year. The increase was approved June 20, by the SUNY Board of Trustees. The tuition hike alone will go from $6,870 to $7,070 per year. The state legislature in 2017 allowed annual tuition increases of up to $200 and the SUNY trustees have imposed the maximum each year. For New York state residents enrolled at the University at Albany, tuition and fees will rise $420, bringing the cost of attendance to more than $10,000 a year. Even with the increases, SUNY officials say their costs are still below 28 other state public higher education institutions. Tuition and fees for out-of-state students will increase $950, up to more than $24,000 a year. Just over 12,000 students from out of state and another 19,000 from outside the U.S., attend SUNY's four-year campuses. Read the full story in the Times Union.
