NYS Department of Health links vaping illness to black market THC cartridges

Oct 16, 2019 12:00 pm
Peter Eliopoulos is reporting for News10 Albany the majority of the 125 cases of pulmonary illness in New York are due to the use of black market THC cartridges, not nicotine E-cigs, according to Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker. Zucker said his department are investigating what is making people sick. The death last week of a 17-year-old boy from the Bronx has been linked to a vaping-related illness. According to the Department of Health, lab tests found high levels of vitamin E-acetate, a thickening chemical in each of the THC samples. One illegal THC product has actually been linked to almost every lung illness patient in New York, according to information published by the Department of Health. While Zucker, the Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration attribute illegal THC vaping to the illnesses, Cuomo is still pushing for a ban on legal, FDA approved flavored nicotine E-cigs.
