New York court keeps assisted suicide ban

The Daily Freeman reports that the state’s highest court, on Sept. 7, rejected arguments from terminally ill patients seeking life-ending drugs from New York doctors. New York's Court of Appeals did not strike down the current ban on assisted suicide in the state. Advocates said they will try again next year to pass legislation permitting physician-assisted suicide. So far, that legislation has not reached a vote in Albany, while similar bills have passed in Colorado, Washington, Vermont, California, Oregon and Washington, D.C.
