Norwegian Air restarting Stewart-Dublin service with different jet

The Daily Freeman is reporting Norwegian Air said Mar. 13, it is deploying a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jet to New York Stewart International Airport for flights to and from Dublin, Ireland. The Dreamliner will be used in place of the Boeing 737 Max 8, which the airliner grounded this week in the wake of two recent fatal crashes of the model. The announcement came one day after Norwegian said it was "reallocating our fleet options with other aircraft types, re-booking to other flights and combining flights to minimize [the] inconvenience caused to our passengers." The Dreamliner is much larger than the Max 8, with 338 seats compared to the smaller jet's 189. Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus said Stewart General Manager Ed Harrison "has worked closely with Norwegian Air to ensure that the carrier provides substitute aircraft for travelers in a timely manner." Norwegian began offering flights between Stewart and various European destinations in 2017, and passenger volume at the New Windsor hub has risen substantially as a result.
