Barrett opposes Ghent powerline too

Jun 28, 2012 11:49 pm
New York 106 District Assemblywoman Didi Barrett (D-Town of Washington) was in WGXC's Hudson studio Thu., June 28, and hosts Christina Malisoff and Doug McGivney asked her opinion on the Ghent power line issue. Protect Ghent, Rep. Chris Gibson (R-Kinderhook) and others have expressed opposition to the New York State Electric & Gas plan to install an 11-mile high-voltage overhead powerline near or through Ghent and Chatham. Gibson recently expressed concern over the potential loss of agricultural lands, the project’s impact on important historic and archeological resources and its visual impact. Barrett agrees, and cites Art Omi, the outdoor sculpture park, as among the most negatively-impacted properties by the proposed powerline.
