Ian Vanek b.1980 in Yakima, WA, lives and works in Olympia, Washington. A graduate of Pratt Institute In 2001, he co-founded the art project Japanther around the same time. The group’s 13 years of recorded music, live performances and visual spectacles resulted in a body of work with amorous chaos, wild abandon and multifaceted curiosity. Now in a new phase of his career, Vanek busies himself with writing, designing, making records and publishing a zine.
