Danek writes, "The following 'phonescapes' are extractions from larger, live soundscapes, crafted by looping numerous feeds of cellular transmissions. The way these transmissions interact are largely never experienced. While merged in the setting of a soundscape these transmissions can be observed clashing and overtaking each other, some fading and some swelling at different times. Transmissions travel endlessly, with material slowly shifting over time, eventually becoming unrecognizable. Multiplism, standardization, isolation, and time all play a large part in the creation of these pieces. Translated into sound, these digital transmissions take on a rich texture and life. I am interested in the space and conversion of digital transmissions, as well as the interaction of these transmissions as they are merged into one."
