"American Can" (1966-67) by Max Neuhaus, (2013) organized by Krzysztof Topolski
A recording from a re-creation of Max Neuhaus' American Can, organized by the Poland-based artist Krzysztof Topolski, and performed by the American Can Collective, November 11, 2013 at Ohio State University. Neuhaus' American Can, was originally staged during the winter of 1966-67 in Staten Island’s Cloves Lakes Park (New York) and other locations around the city. "Participants were invented to bounce or slide the cans that carpeted the ground, though whether they were given additional and temporal guidelines is no longer known." writes Lynne Cooke in "Locational Listening" in "Times Square, Max Neuhaus, Time Piece Beacon" (2009) Dia Art Foundation, New York.
American Can Collective: Joachim Bean, Diana Abells, Dylan Dunphy, Jonathan Fitz, Christy Brand, William Randall, Chris Harvey, Ann Hamilton, Thomas Wells, Amy Youngs, Jessica Ann, TradeMark Gunderson, Michael Mercil, Brittany Helms, Krzysztof Topolski, Scarlet Waggoner, Adrian Waggoner. Krzysztof Topolski's appearance is made possible by CEC ArtLink.
"Live Streaming" (2021) by sTo Len
Centered around conversations with streams and rivers, sTo Len used divining rods, fishing rods, hydrophones, contact mics, and radio transmitters to connect with the local waterways of Greene County, NY through sound rituals.
