Three guilty pleas for planned Delaware County attack on Muslims

Jun 28, 2019 1:22 pm
The Daily Freeman reports that three men from Rochester pled guilty June 28 to planning an attack on a Muslim community in Delaware County. The three and a 16-year-old high school student had access to 23 rifles and shotguns and three homemade explosives, and were arrested in January accused of planning to attack Islamberg, a Delaware County town about 70 miles west of Kingston. "[Brian] Colaneri and [Andrew] Crysel both admitted to... agreeing to ... essentially kill members of the Islamic community in Islamberg," Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Matthew Schwartz told reporters. "And [Vincent] Vetromile, he admitted to his role as it related to the acquiring, if you will, the various explosive devices." Islamberg is a mostly African-American community operated by The Muslims of America, and settled in the 1980s by followers of Pakistani cleric Sheikh Mubarik Gilani.
