On March 11, President Joe Biden announced that soon, every American adult can get in line for a COVID-19 vaccine. CLICK HERE TO HEAR BRIEF EXCERPT OF BIDEN'S ADDRESS TO THE NATION. Locally, Albany County is the first to reach 25 percent of the population receiving at least one vaccine dose. As of March 11, Columbia County is next, at 23 percent, followed by Rensselaer County at 22.7 percent, Ulster County at 22.6 percent, then Dutchess County at 19.8 percent, and Greene County last at 18.2 percent vaccinated at least once. Those numbers have all doubled in recent weeks, as anecdotal evidence and social media posts indicate it is becoming easier to get a vaccine appointment. The state, for instance, has been running a vaccine site at SUNY Albany, and now there are plans for another site at the Ulster County Fairgrounds in New Paltz.
