Mike Kelsey arrested on sex abuse charges

Arthur Cusano is reporting in the Register Star former state Assembly candidate Mike Kelsey was arrested Mon., Dec. 15, on charges he sexually abused two Boy Scouts during an upstate camping trip. He is an elected member of the Dutchess County Legislature. Kelsey, 36, of Pleasant Valley, was arrested by state police and charged with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged incident involved two 15-year-old male scouts and occurred during a week-long 50-mile hike in the Adirondack State Park, in August. Kelsey pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released after posting bail. Kelsey, a Republican, narrowly lost to incumbent Democrat Didi Barrett in the race for 106th Assembly District seat in November. Read the full story in the Register Star.
