Court denies Charter's motion to dismiss; AG's case will move forward

Richard Moody is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Charter Communication’s motion to dismiss the case filed by the state attorney general was denied June 21, by the state Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. The attorney general's office sued Charter Communications on behalf of state residents, alleging that Charter, now doing business as Spectrum, conducted a scheme to defraud thousands of consumers beginning January 2012 through February 2017, by promising internet speeds it knew it could not deliver to sites statewide. “We look forward to moving our case forward and holding Charter and its predecessor Time Warner Cable accountable for promising New York consumers internet speeds they could not deliver,” said interim state Attorney General Barbara D. Underwood. Andrew Russell, Charter’s Northeast communications director, said the company will continue to "defend vigorously against these allegations." Charter/Spectrum serves Ancram, Austerlitz, Canaan, Chatham, Copake, Ghent, Hillsdale, New Lebanon, Kinderhook and Stuyvesant.
