Dutchess Co. debating 'Tobacco 21' law

The Mid-Hudson News Network is reporting the Dutchess County Legislature is considering whether to raise the age to purchase tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, from 18 to 21. Legislature Chairman Dale Borchert said there are several sponsors of the proposed local law but there is a suggestion that the draft be amended to exempt those in the military. Borchert said there is also some pushback from convenience store owners. Sullivan County raised the age for tobacco purchase to 21 in April. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
