Queens man takes serious fall from Bastion Falls

Bill Williams is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media an injured hiker was airlifted to Albany Medical Center following an accident last week in the Kaaterskill Wild Forest, a state Department of Environmental Conservation spokesperson said, October 9. The unidentified man, 65, from Queens, sustained serious physical injuries after he fell approximately 20 feet from Bastion Falls. At roughly 1 p.m., October 3, Greene County 911 notified Forest Ranger Daniel Fox of the injured hiker on the Kaaterskill Falls Trail. Fox assisted paramedics who were treating the injured hiker. Within 15 minutes, the man was placed in a litter and carried out to a waiting town of Hunter Ambulance on Route 23A. The hiker was transported by LifeNet helicopter to Albany.
