Arthur Cusano reported in the Register Star Columbia County Treasurer P.J. Keeler has announced, pending approval, his office will create a new position, director of business operations. The decision is part of the county's recent efforts to establish a centralized business office. The individual hired to fill the position would be responsible for overseeing all receivables for all departments and making sure those receivables are reconciled, Keller told the Board of Supervisors .1 [point one] Committee, Mon., Sept. 29. Keeler said, “There is a tremendous need for this, and our auditors recommended it as well.” The position carries an annual salary of $52,000. Keeler said funds are available in the current budget to pay for the new post. Both the .1 [point one] and Finance committees authorized Keeler's request, Monday. The matter goes before the full Board of Supervisors for approval later this month. Read the full story in the Register Star.
