Tobiah Black is reporting in The Columbia Paper New Lebanon Town Board member Bruce Baldwin has taken issue with the unauthorized use of his name on emails circulated by Supervisor Michael Benson. Baldwin said at a board meeting last week “a couple of e-mails” circulated by Benson included Baldwin's name, but he had neither seen nor approved of the messages. Baldwin said the inclusion of his, and other town board members' names, implied the message was coming from the full board. The email in question was budget-related, expressing Benson's position on New Lebanon's tax rates, town employee salaries and a list of what he believes are vital services to be preserved. Baldwin noted that he was out of the country when Benson sent the messages. When asked, Benson said "some" of the other Town Board members were made aware of the emails before they were sent.
