D.C. representatives ask for federal help for Rensselaer County water

Lindsay Nielsen at Albany's News10 TV reports that Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressperson Chris Gibson (R-Kinderhook) signed a letter June 24 asking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health to help educate and assist people suffering in PFOA water contamination crisis in Hoosick Falls and Petersburgh in Rensselaer County. “It’s about time somebody stepped in and done something,” Amos Jones, of Petersburgh, said. “These victims are justifiably concerned, but not enough information has been disseminated to put this severe level of PFOA into context,” the letter says, asking for, “public meetings in the community, providing public health experts and scientists to assist the state, and create relevant online information source.” Read the full story at Albany's News10 TV's website.
