John Mason is reporting in the Register Star with all absentee ballots counted in the 106th Assembly District race, incumbent Assembly member, Democrat Didi Barrett, appears to have won a second, two-year term by defeating Republican challenger Mike Kelsey. Unofficially, Barrett garnered 18,023 votes districtwide to Kelsey’s 17,592. The two campaigns combined have challenged nearly 200 ballots, of which 164 were disputed by Kelsey. In the Taghkanic Town Board race, the only other Columbia County contest still at issue, Democratic challenger Linda Swartz appears headed for victory over incumbent Taghkanic Carolyn Sammons. Swartz is currently leading Sammons by 21 votes. Read the full story in the Register Star.
