Air Quality Health Advisory issued for New York state

Jun 20, 2016 12:30 pm

New York state officials have issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the Lower Hudson Valley region, 11 a.m. through 11 p.m., Mon., Jun. 20. The region includes Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Orange and Putnam counties. Department of Environmental Conservation meteorologists also anticipate that due to current ozone levels downstate, New York could experience high levels each day through the holiday weekend. Anyone, especially young children, who exercises outdoors, are involved in vigorous outdoor work and who have respiratory disease should consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity when ozone levels are the highest. That is generally from the afternoon to early evening. A toll-free Air Quality Hotline -- 1-800-535-1345 -- has been established by the DEC to keep New Yorkers informed of the latest air quality situation.
