Hudson-Chatham Winery sold

May 12, 2020 12:45 pm
Steve Hughes is reporting in the Times Union the Hudson-Chatham Winery has been sold. Owners Carlo and Dominique DeVito have sold their Ghent property and the business to Steven Rosario and Justen Nickell, two hospitality veterans with Tatte Bakery and Cafe in Boston. Both are graduates of the Culinary Institute of America. Rosario will take over the day-to-day operations at the winery in Ghent and the two satellite locations in Tannersville and Troy, and Nickell will continue in his position as director of bakery and pastry operations at Tatte. Hudson-Chatham Winery’s general manager, Bryan VanDeusen, will stay on, and winemaker and grape historian Stephen Casscles will continue as a grower and advising winemaker. “We are thrilled to have Justen and Steven assume stewardship of this historic farm that is now the winery,” said Carlo DeVito in a statement. The announcement does not give a reason for the DeVitos’ decision to sell. The DeVitos purchased a farm on Route 66 in Ghent in 2006, and turned it into Hudson-Chatham Winery, the first winery in Columbia County. The winery makes dry whites and reds, sweeter wines, sparkling wines and a line of dessert wines. Read the full story in the Times Union.
