Judge dismisses lawsuit from New York against Trump tax plan

Oct 01, 2019 12:57 am
Michael Goot reports for the Post Star that a U.S. District Court judge Sept. 30 dismissed a case New York and three other states filed challenging the constitutionality of the 2017 federal tax reform plan. New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Connecticut filed a lawsuit over the $10,000 cap on the amount of state and local taxes that could be deducted on a federal return. The suit claimed the tax law unfairly penalizes Democratic-run states. “There is no doubt in my mind that President Trump's unfair tax policy targets New York and other blue states by funding tax cuts for corporations and the rich on the backs of New Yorkers,” Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said. Read more about this story at the Post Star.
