Meyer concedes to McLaughlin

News10 in Albany reports that Deputy County Executive Chris Meyer conceded the Republican primary for Rensselaer County executive on Sept. 18. State Assemblyperson Steve McLaughlin was leading last week's primary slightly. "It is with great disappointment that I have come to the realization that I will not be the next Rensselaer County Executive. Therefore I have decided to suspend my campaign," Meyer's statement said. McLaughlin will now be the Republican nominee, against Democrat Andrea Smyth in November to replace retiring County Executive Kathleen Jimino. Read the full story at the News10 website.
