Name the most remarkable on-air moment you heard on WGXC in 2020.
There were many different answers for this question, though, in a broad sense, “the coverage of local and national affairs and local COVID-19 coverage” was noted most often.
Some remembered specific radio moments such as: “A caller called the show to pass along a message over to a listener from a different location.”
And: “Loved every time a show was broadcast live from the street—especially outside the Rolling Grocer over the summer!”
Some folks fondly recalled the mistakes such as hearing “The Jazz Disturbance playing Albert Ayler while Christian radio was interfering with the airwaves/transmission with a sermon... excellent juxtaposition!”
And the election was mentioned frequently, such as: “The day after Election Day, when the votes were still being counted, and Tom Roe was super sleepy and very funny!”
Several programmers mentioned WGXC’s coverage of rallies and protests last summer such as, “The hate spewed during the Greenville BLM rally.”
And others remembered the town hall meetings we streamed, specifically the moment when former mayor Rick Rector called the current Hudson mayor stupid.
But the Winner, mentioned by programmers most often was the Drive Time Afternoon Show early on in the pandemic with a woman from Detroit that had contracted COVID.
