A public hearing on changing the "Code of the Village of Athens" will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 25 in the Municipal Building in the Village of Athens. Proposed Local Law No. 2-2015 contains a new curfew, not allowing anyone under 18 on the streets of the village after 9 p.m. if passed. Activists from the Athens Citizen's Development Committee are complaining about another provision in the proposal in which the village, not the state's Department of Environmental Conservation, would regulate the use of wetlands and land adjacent to wetlands within the Village of Athens.
