Greenville schools won't consider veterans' exemption

Audrey Matott in The Daily Mail reports that Greenville Central School District would not reconsider a proposed veterans’ tax exemption, voting 4-3 Jan. 21 not to hold a public hearing to consider the exemption. Last year the board voted 4-3 against exempting veterans from property taxes, but with a slightly different board the veterans asked again this year. Board president Ann Holstein said she did not want to shift the school funding burden to others in the community. Veteran Don Savino was upset, saying, “It was an injustice done here today.
