Central Hudson merger foes call for new hearings

William J. Kemble reports in the Daily Freeman the state Public Service Commission is being asked to reduce the profits that Fortis Inc. can make through ownership of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. Fortis was approved in June to take over Central Hudson's parent company CH Energy Group. The request comes from three major opponents of that acquisition. The commission has been asked to set new hearings on the takeover. The three separate filings for a rehearing contend the state Public Service Commission will allow Fortis to make profits at the expense of ratepayers. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
