Hudson Senior Center costs increase

Joe Gentile reports in the Register Star the estimated cost to construct the Hudson Senior Center has now reached $1.3 million. Common Council President Donald Moore confirmed at the Council's Informal Meeting, Mon., Feb. 11, lead architect Jane Smith's design budget has now increased by more than $200,000. “This project has reached a budget in excess of what we thought we could expect,” Moore said. Fifth Ward Supervisor, and Galvan Foundation associate, Rick Scalera expressed disbelief that more could not be done to request Smith's firm reconsider the project’s scale. First Ward Alderman Nicholas Haddad suggested the Common Council purchase St. Mary’s Academy as an alternative location for the Senior Center. Read the full story in the Register Star.
