Another COVID-19 death in Albany County

The Times Union reports that Albany County announced on Oct. 10 one death, 14 new COVID-19 cases, and three new hospitalizations. A woman in her 70s is the 136th person to die from coronavirus in Albany County. “My condolences go out to her family and all the other families who have lost loved ones throughout the pandemic,” Albany County Executive Dan McCoy said. Albany County currently has 112 active cases. Albany County announced a few days ago that some of the current outbreak is from DePaula Chevrolet on Central Avenue, which is now closed through Oct. 20. Other recent cases come from the University of Albany. Greene and Columbia counties each announced one new COVID-19 case on Oct. 9, and Columbia County added four more cases Oct. 10. Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan said the county has reached over 100,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests since March 10, while Greene County recently said it only has capacity to test those who have been exposed to someone who had the virus.
