Bill Williams is reporting for WCTW-FM, "The Cat," the sign at Cosmic Cinemas in the Fairview Plaza in Greenport is up, as the projected June 29, opening date grows closer. However, Williams writes, based on the look of the kitchen, located in the space formerly occupied by Angela's Pizza and Pasta, there is a still some work to be done. Williams quotes an Albany Business Review story about the theater, warning that customers are expected to leave their small children and mobile phones at home. "We want to give the mature movie lover the experience of watching a movie the way it was meant to be," Terrell Braly, CEO of Cosmic Cinemas, said in a prepared statement. "We want to provide the very best in an exceptional dinner and movie experience without the distractions." The theater will feature a bar/restaurant that offers appetizers, entrées, beer and wine and mixed drinks before and during the showing of first-run films. The beverage menu will cater "to a more sophisticated palate." Cosmic's Greenport location is the first of six Cosmic Cinemas slated to open this year.
