Boyajian, Doran will face Ashby

May 16, 2018 12:12 pm
David Lombardo reports in the Albany Times Union that Democrat Don Boyajian is now running for election in the 107th Assembly District, instead of the 21st Congressional District. Instead of trying to unseat Republican Elise Stefanik, he will attempt to replace Jake Ashby. Boyajian is from Washington County, and the 107th Assembly District includes parts of Rensselaer, Columbia, and Washington counties. Ashby just narrowly defeated Cindy Doran in an April 24 special election to replace Republican Steve McLaughlin. Ashby now must face voters again in November. Doran said May 15 that she will run again, so Boyajian must defeat her before getting to Ashby. Before he switched races, he had five opponents in the Democratic primary in the 21st Congressional election. Boyajian has more than $200,000 leftover from the Congressional campaign.
