Local ski resorts busy with early snow

Rick Karlin reports in the Times Union that almost two feet of snow fell last week on most local ski resorts, and it has been good for business. “It’s going to look like winter for a long time,” said Rich Edwards, sales director at Catamount Mountain Resort in Hillsdale. While there will be a couple of days with rain and temperatures in the upper 40s this week, local mountains have a good base of snow. “It’s been one of the best starts in a while,” said Walter Kirsch, co-operator of the Pine Ridge Cross Country ski area in Petersburg, Rensselaer County. Hunter Mountain says they currently have 40 trails serviced by 7 lifts open. Windham Mountain has 36 trails open, with three lifts running. Read more about this story in the Times Union.
