Rangers help lost hikers in Hunter

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is reporting on Tue., May 26, Greene County 911 requested help from state forest rangers in a search for two hikers in Hunter. A 33-year-old woman and 35-year-old man from Brooklyn had lost the escarpment trail just past Sunset Rock in the Kaaterskill Wild Forest. GPS coordinates put the pair 100 feet off the trail; neither had flashlights or water with them at the time. Forest ranger Rob Dawson responded and located the hikers, gave them water and took them back to his vehicle for transport back to their vehicle at South Lake.
