The Ravena Times-Herald is reporting six Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk students were named area champions January 25, after competing against 10 Capital Region teams. The FIRST® LEGO robotic tournament was held at SUNY Poly Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany. In addition to being the overall champions, the team took first place in robot performance. Coeymans Town Councilman Brandon LeFevre attended the tournament to support the team. “I was very impressed with their creativity, teamwork, public speaking skills and the gracious professionalism they exhibited,” LeFevre wrote in a social media post. In the FIRST® robotics competition for students in grades 4 through 8, the teams build, program and compete with LEGO-based robots and research a real-world engineering challenge. The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk team consisted of Parker Deyoe, Louisa Engelhardt, Ryan Keiffer, Alivia Ortiz, John Robertson and Samuel Robertson. Read the full story in the Ravena Times-Herald.
